Beaches

There are far too many beautiful beaches just a short drive from Las Colinas Resort to pick just one. The resort is located just a short drive from the Orihuela Costa and its 16 kilometers of beautiful diverse coastline and beaches. Most of the beaches here have blue flag status meaning they are clean, safe and have good amenities.

The Orihuela Costa region covers many popular seaside resorts all with something different to offer. Whether you are looking for a quiet secluded beach, a bustling tourist destination, a marina or a lovely promenade for an evening stroll, you will find it all here. Some of the beaches include Mil Palmeras, Campoamor, Villamartin, Cabo Roig, La Zenia, Playa Flamenca and Punta Prima.

To the South in the Murcia region, you will find the famous Mar Menor, a huge saltwater lagoon. Just a short drive from Las Colinas Golf & Country Club, here you will find even more stunning beaches and promenades to enjoy. The water here is much warmer than the Mediterranean Sea and is popular for a dip all year round. It is also shallow and so a safe place for children.

Just a 15 minute drive from Las Colinas Golf & Country Club, La Zenia Boulevard is a huge shopping centre. It boasts over 150 shops covering 161,000m2. You will find global brands such as Primark as well as Spanish brands. There is a large supermarket, clothes shops, toy shops, electronics stores and much much more.

As well as shops there are many bars and restaurants and a huge leisure park to keep the kids entertained. Also for all the family is a bowling alley with an arcade. For the adults, there is a casino.

Golf

Of course Las Colinas Golf & Country Club boasts its own award winning 72 par championship golf course. However, the Southern Costa Blanca has a huge variety of golf courses on offer, new and old, large and small. You will never be short of choice when it comes to golf courses in this beautiful part of the world.

Some of the golf courses within just a short drive of Las Colinas Golf & Country Club include Campoamor, La Finca, Los Colinas, Vistabella, Las Ramblas, and Villamartin to name a few. Villamartin Golf Course has become one of the most recognised golf courses on the Costa Blanca and is definitely a must visit for all golfers.

Cartagena

If golf is not on your list of things to do when visiting Las Colinas why not check out Cartagena. Just a 40 minute drive from the Las Colinas Golf & Country Club, Cartagena is a must visit. Located in the Murcia region, Cartagena is a port city with over 3000 years of history.

The city boasts a huge marina surrounded by a stunning mountainous backdrop, a popular destination for cruise ships. The marina by itself is perfect for a stroll and is definitely worth a visit just for the magnificent views. You can then make your way through the narrow city streets and make the most of the many shops, bars and restaurants here while soaking up the culture.

One of the cities landmarks attracting visitors is the famous Roman Theatre (Teatro Romano de Cartagena)  located close to the port. This large 6000 seater auditorium was built between 5 and 1 BCE at the peak of Roman power.

Another popular attraction for visitors is the Castillo de la Concepción, a medieval hilltop fortress. It was built at the highest point of Cartagena overlooking the marina and city. The old keep now houses a museum dedicated to the 3000 year history of Cartagena.

There are many more museums worth a visit in Cartagena including naval and military museums, the Civil War Refuge Museum, The Regional Museum of Modern Art and the Municipal Archaeological Museum. If museums aren’t for you then why not enjoy a boat trip around the stunning cliffs. There is something for everyone in the beautiful Cartagena.

Torrevieja

Just a short 25 minute drive away from Las Colinas Golf & Country Club is the popular bustling seaside City of Torrevieja.

The name Torrevieja comes from the term ‘Torre Vieja’ which translated means ‘Old Tower’. This now large city was once a small fishing village. You can now see remains of the Roman docks next to the old watch tower in La Mata. This, as well as another ancient watch tower, were used in the middle ages as lookout towers for pirates.

As well as being full of history and culture, Torrevieja has much more to offer including some of the most beautiful beaches, the best shopping, traditional Spanish markets, stunning promenades, marinas, all the bars, restaurants and clubs you could ever need and even a water park.

On top of all of this, Torrevieja boasts two stunning lagoons which are pink and blue in colour, another must see in the area. They are the biggest salt flats in the whole of Europe and now nature reserves, home to 250 species of birds alone.
